Antonia Petrova Shivarova

Born:

Prof. Antonia Shivarova was born in Stara Zagora

Education

She studied a high school in her native town Stara Zagora up to 1965

From 1965 to 1970, she studied radiophysics and electronics in the Sofia University

She was a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Physics (1972 – 1975) and difended her thesis “Surface waves in plasma” (1976)

A. Shivarova specialised in Germany (1984 – 1985)

She defended her Sc.D. thesis "Nonlinear plasma waveguide" (1999)

Research

Prof Shivarova investigated problems in radiophysics, plasma physics and discharge

Her achievements are in the area of unstable plasma and nonlinear optics. She created method for plasma diagnostics

Professional experience

She was third rang assistant (1976), second rang assistant (1977), first rang assistant (1980), associate professor (1986 - 2000), professor (2000) at the Sofia University.

BAS Institute of electronics appointed her (1970 – 1972). She was a physicists (1975 – 1976), assistent (1976 – 1977), second rang assistant (1977 – 1980) in the chair of radiophysics and electronics and first rang assistant in the chair of general physics (1980 – 1986)

She was associate professor (1986–2000) and full professor (2000–2016). She organised and headed a research group about "Plasma physics and gas discharge"

Prof. Shivarova was Sofia University deputy dean (1989–1991) and head of the Radiophysics and electronics department (2007 - )
