He graduated Electrical Engineering in Ilmenau, Germany (1977–1982)

He defended Ph.D. in Dresden (1988) and D.Sc.

Research

His main research area is acustoelectronics

He headed two projects "Applications of Surface Transverse Waves (STW), Rayleigh Surface Acoustic Waves (RSAW) and Bulk Acoustic Waves (BAW) in Low Noise Microwave Oscillators", and "Communications and Sensor Systems using Thin Polymers Layers Obtained by Plasma" funded by BAS(2008)
